Residence Ensemble Schwerin – Cultural Landscape of Romantic Historicism

Residence Ensemble Schwerin – Cultural Landscape of Romantic Historicism

Schwerin | Germany

Project Duration: 2018 - 2019

The Heritage Impact Assessment examined the extend the annual outdoor theatre performances, called Schlossfestspiele, influence the values and attributes of the Outstanding Universal Values of the potential future World Heritage Site of the Residence Ensemble of Schwerin. The results of this HIA indicated that the theatre performances were indeed disadvantageous and decrease the success of the nomination of Schwerin Residence Ensemble as World Heritage Site. As a result, the IHM was contracted to prepare a manual with a set of specific guidelines that allow the theatre performances to be held in acceptable and World Heritage friendly methods, so that the nomination process is not negatively influenced and the Schlossfestspiele can continue being held.
